Do you meet a...

better type of person on twitter?
Or are they all on instant gratification?

Must rush my life is so busy winging oft
pointless drivel in only so many words.

Social intercourse of the face-to-face kind is so old hat...
added to which you may get some awful disease.
Antibiotics are becoming less effective, so when some
bright spark finds a way to inseminate through
cyber-space, then the job will be a goodun,
added to which you won't get all that
bodily fluids carry-on.

Our faces will take on a squarer, flatter mien;
looking on the bright side those more impressionable
amongst us, won't be able to inject poison into
the flat screens we call our face.
Our digits will become more nimble,
our heads will tip forward, not because we
suffer from spondylitis, just
because we are reversing the evolution chart...
from man back to monkey.

  1. LL, what is that you hear?? Applause all the way from Cairns!!
Saw a pic on thfitzyreport.com yesterday where 7 out of 8 people were looking at their SMART phones ~ disturbing. I see it at school too. Love Randy Glasbergen cartoons. Use them a lot for school.

  2. Could be true - or is it?
I quite can't make up my mind, but I THINK I've done more face-to-facing in the real world too since I started blogging. Could it make one more open to gabbing to complete strangers?
But I think it's blokes who have really evolved - I get hysterical at the sight of them chattering on their mobiles. Men? Gossiping?
New technology can't be all bad.

  4. Your view of the future seems rather science fictional but there are many senses in which modern technology is changing us - not always for the better.

  5. Another very astute post Linda, I think you are absolutely right although the upside is that we get to 'meet' friends through all this social media malarkey so it can't all be bad! Loved the marriage guidance cartoon! Just going to visit Doris. x

  6. Don't do face book - probably as I don't want to have 'friends 0' showing, don't do twitter - as I don't think 'off for another pee' would be headline news, and especially as my husband said that 'people who twitter are twats' (even though he has to do it in his profession)and I spend far too much time looking at peoples blogs and wasting time doing my own... but then I'd never have come across some lovely people and read some funny and interesting posts, so suppose it's six of one... x
