'There's nowt so queer...

as folk...
'cept me and thee...
and tha's queer!'

A lovely Yorkshire expression
which came to mind, as happy as Larry
I sat in a local hospital enjoying the
spectacle known as people watching.

I had taken an elderly friend there for
an outpatients appointment.

After escorting him to the eye clinic,
I waited in the foyer of the hospital.
Boy did I have a good time.
The hours ticked by without me
even thinking to get out the book I'd taken with me.

All walks of life were there.
An especial favourite was a 7 ft. monster man
who was large; so huge, he had to walk with his arms
held out in the way that giants do.
On arrival, in his orange singlet,
he belched loudly.
The trainers, the stilletos, the strappy sandals all
passed me by.  The acres of flesh, the shifts, the sundresses,
all made me think I was on the front row of
the new season's catwalk of Primark's finest.

Now before you all cry...
'Get her, who does she think she is?'
I must confess I did draw some strange looks myself,
not least from the security guards, thinking...
Where did she park her broomstick?

For all the world, I thought I had wandered into a
warts and all episode of
24 hours in A & E.

My pal was worried he had kept me
 waiting so long...

'Be not afraid Ken, I've had a whale of a time!'

His next appointment is for a month's time, the day before my birthday.
It's already in my diary, as much anticipated as my
56th* Leo-fest extravaganza!

*  Stonking great Fibonacci!

  3. Methinks people-watching must be a typically bloggerish pastime - we all love it!

  4. Thank you my teacher! More previously unknown knowledge for my addled brain to process!.....In the West, the Fibonacci sequence first appears in the book Liber Abaci (1202) by Leonardo of Pisa, known as Fibonacci. Fibonacci considers the growth of an idealized (biologically unrealistic) rabbit population, assuming that: a newly born pair of rabbits, one male, one female, are put in a field; rabbits are able to mate at the age of one month so that at the end of its second month a female can produce another pair of rabbits; rabbits never die and a mating pair always produces one new pair (one male, one female) every month from the second month on. The puzzle that Fibonacci posed was: how many pairs will there be in one year?

    1. Me teacher, you pupil? You Tarzan, me Doris!

On both counts, I think the answer is regrettably... No.

Now about my grammaticals, when are you going to get a handle on them?
