As we sat across the...

Friday night table we got to
reminiscing about past experiences.
Sadness overlaid our evening meal.

I make no excuse about us grieving for a dog...
a very special dog for all that.
Those that don't get it...
look away now...
in fact,  not to put too fine a point on it,
best you... be gone.

Alright I know where you might be coming from and
I can understand...
with all the evil in the world...
why pine the loss of a
dog?

Hold tight is it dog on dog?
Or man on man?
The world's problems are coming from
the 'higher' species...
mankind.

  1. Everyone grieves for a much-loved, faithful friend - furry or not furry.
    Keep remembering the good times!

    1. I do Nilly, but I am so sad. Lettice and I shared so much.

Bottom line is... I did the right thing by her, and that's all that matters really; all else is me being selfish.

  3. Early days Linda, early days, you need no excuses for grieving, she was a member of your family. As nilly suggests, try to keep remembering the time you shared together. Jx

    1. It's the silence and the socking great silence in this normally rowdy household... but wait I have got a strop on about the government... so all is not lost!?! The old girl is rallying... brace yourselves!

  4. Of course we should mourn the loss of our animal companions. We often spend more time, and more meaningful time, with them than we do with our human ones.

    1. Lettice was my biggest fan, oh alright...only fan. She hung on my every pronouncement as if pearls of wisdom, instead of the usual old tosh. Her tummy told us the time better than any Rolex timepiece.

  5. Your beloved dog was indeed a member of your family. I have a dog and I know that when the day comes I will be so sad so sad.I will mourn just as much as you do right now. Be happy that you was the one she had in her life and that it also was the other way around. Love to your pet is one of the greatest gift we ever can have.
    Many hugs from Lina

    1. Hello Lina, thank you for commenting. Yes, Lettice won the lottery when our paths crossed, because she was one very sad and timid 6 month old pup. I think not many folk would have had the patience I had with her... I surprised myself! We went through so many tough times together and she was my constant non-judgemental companion every step of the way.

  6. This is my first visit and comment , a shame it is on such a sad post. I've gone back and read the others, cried 'cos I know what it's like. We've been through the same here with two over the last 18 months or so and it still brings a lump to our throats when we talk about them. They hold a very special place in our hearts.

  7. Hello Helsie and thank you for visiting and commenting. You have come at a sad time, usually it's a rough, rollicking, irreverent ride... trouble is I've had the stuffing knocked out of me. You obviously know EXACTLY how I'm feeling right now.
