With feet firmly planted...

a good foot apart,
bum in the air, I peered.
The thought did cross my mind that folk
 looking up the garden,
might be tempted to think we'd
won the lottery and installed a
Henry Moore sculpture beside the pond.

I peered and peered...
where were they?
All I could see was the reflection of
my silhouette in the water.
My tadpoles seem to have got very shy;
are they quietly sitting on the bottom absorbing their tails
as their front legs appear?
Not previously having had the pleasure of watching tadpoles
 grow... I've really no idea?
Even last night I went up after dark to see if they were flying
up to the surface for air, as they had been on previous nights.
Very little sign of many or even any.

My life seemed strangely flat.

  1. I wonder where they've gone? Perhaps they grew legs and high-tailed it over to Mr OW's posh drain for a froggie rave.

  3. At the very beginning of our tadpole season I took my camera to take pix, and all I found were HUGE footprints just beneath the water.

    2. Cro, I'm pleased to say they are still there. My life will be so dull when they leave home.
      How worrying is that?
